The Department of Nutrition Science offers multidisciplinary approaches to promote human health and well-being through food and nutrition. The Department applies the biological, physiological, behavioral, and social sciences to understand and address challenges in dietetics, nutrition, and food systems. A hallmark of our work is the integration of 'big science' innovations into our core values-learning, discovery, and engagement-to make a difference in individuals, families, and communities. This position is housed through the Department of Nutrition Science, but includes a coordinator position for a 3-year grant-funded program called: Fresh Start/Expansion and Enhancement of the Mobile Fresh Start Program to Address Cardiometabolic Health Disparities with the Uninsured in Rural Eastern North Carolina. The goal of the Fresh Start program is to comprehensively address cardiometabolic health accessible for uninsured patients is not currently available within rural, Eastern North Carolina. This will be accomplished by expanding geographic reach, expanding eligibility to cardiometabolic risk, and enhancing resources and virtual implementation options to better connect with remote rural communities and ongoing access to support/resources.
