Job Summary: Utilizes unique design aesthetic and signature style to create beautiful floral arrangements. Assists with all aspects of the floral department, which includes everything from small floral bouquets and deliveries to large-scale events and consultations. Works closely with floral personnel to promote department sales and customer service to support profitability goals.

Requirements

  • Intermediate knowledge of floral department operations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of flowers, handling, and design techniques required.
  • Basic knowledge of budget planning, profit and loss statements, labor reports, and other financial statements.
  • Basic knowledge of automated reporting systems including, but not limited to, inventory, cost of goods, scheduling, time and attendance, and labor.
  • Basic mathematical skills for assessing inventory and ordering.
  • Basic knowledge of SAP reporting applications.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and delegate responsibilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (in written and verbal form) with partners, customers, and the community.
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers at all time.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and practice proper time management.
  • Ability to perform basic Microsoft Office functions.
  • Ability to promote sales and negotiate prices.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to off-site locations to make floral deliveries, set up arrangements at special events, and pick up flowers from external markets.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to use precision hand tools.
  • Required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.
  • High school Diploma or GED required.
  • Three or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Works in conjunction with upper management to train and develop partners, schedule, plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Supports upper management with the review of historical data regarding sales, ads and promotions.
  • Co-manages inventory using item management processes to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels.
  • May review profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data with department manager.
  • Indirectly responsible for maintaining and improving sales performance, financial results, public relations, product quality, and work standards.
  • Utilizes high degree of creativity and floral design knowledge to create stylish floral and plant arrangements that appeal to a variety of customers.
  • Provides consultations to customers regarding price and type of floral arrangements desired from small-scale arrangements to large-scale events.
  • Negotiates and provides estimates where applicable.
  • Oversees the in-stock and proper maintenance of plants, including the cutting, cleaning, and storage.
  • Utilizes knowledge of flower and plant sustainability to ensure lasting quality and freshness of products.
  • Works closely with management to plan, order, and source products to ensure in-stock conditions and inventory control of the floral department.
  • Builds product displays for special events, holidays, and promotions for customer appeal and to promote sales.
  • Monitors department shrink by utilizing current tools and processes.
  • Promotes sales and services within the community to attract new and repeat customer base.
  • Travels to off-site locations to design and set up arrangements for weddings and other special events.
  • Participates in the scheduling and delivery of floral arrangements.
  • Works alongside the catering and bakery departments to provide package estimates for floral set-ups.
  • Works closely with the marketing department to fulfill marketing campaigns related to floral promotions.
  • Promotes environment of customer focus and proactive selling techniques.
  • Provides friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions and ensuring customer complaints are addressed appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
  • Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.
