About The Position

McKee Foods is seeking a Freight Truck Spotter w/CDL to join our Shipping team. The Freight Truck Spotter w/CDL is responsible for maneuvering empty trailers into shipping docks and pulling loaded trailers away from docks. This role ensures safe and efficient transport of trailers between Collegedale locations, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and ensuring that loads are properly secured for transport.

Requirements

  • Class-A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Must have or be able to obtain a McKee Foods Lift Truck Operator (LTO) license
  • Willingness and proven ability to be flexible and perform various tasks and functions as needed
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and ability to work without direct supervision, independently and as a team
  • Basic math skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (both written and oral), work with management, co-workers and other departments and customers
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and/or move 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrated ability to determine cause and effect; good trouble shooting skills
  • Good work, safety, and attendance records; knowledge of and adherence to company policies, personal safety, food safety, product purity, and departmental procedures
  • Willingness and ability to accept and implement change and train others
  • Willingness and ability to work additional hours and days as needed
  • Must be willing and able to work outdoors and inside buildings throughout the year, in all temperature ranges and all weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of McKee Foods and OSHA safety regulations
  • Previous McKee Foods spotter driving experience
  • Previous LTO driving experience
  • Previous warehouse, shipping, and/or receiving experience
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management System Inventory software
  • Knowledge of Dock Management System

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Spotter Tractor to shuttle both loaded and empty trailers between all Collegedale locations.
  • Spot trailers at the docks as needed using the Spotter Tractor.
  • Operate Auto Trailer and Auto Dock systems.
  • Inspect and verify load weight distribution for safe transport.
  • Install protective devices, such as braces and strapping, to secure loads and prevent shifting during transit.
  • Hand stack cases and reorganize loads as necessary to ensure safety of the load and product.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, minimizing waste.
  • Keep the trailer yard neat and orderly and perform periodic trailer lot inventories.
  • Proficiently utilize the Yard Management System (YMS) software on the Spotter Tractor tablet.
  • Operate forklifts to load and unload materials onto or from trailers, racks, pallets, conveyors, and float boards.
  • Perform and document routine safety inspections and general maintenance on the Spotter Tractor, including checking fluid levels, tire condition and pressure, lights, and general tractor and trailer functionality.
  • Submit repair work orders as needed.
