About The Position

The Freight Forwarding Operations Supervisor is responsible for providing high level of support and supervision to the export department by managing the daily activities of the export team. She/he supervises the administration processes required to import and export merchandise and materials in compliance with federal, state, local, or local country specific regulations. She/he verifies all required documentation and supporting calculations of duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight and or volume of products. The Freight Forwarding Operations Supervisor verifies all payment transactions are completed according to requirements and ensures all documentation is up to date and recorded in tracking systems. Lastly, she/he resolves issues and expedites solutions with clients, customs officials and shippers that contribute to the development of processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate in any field
  • At least 5 years of relevant and recent experience in Freight Forwarding Operations and Customer Service
  • Previous supervisor experience required
  • Freight Forwarding experience is mandatory
  • Solid and demonstrated working knowledge of the Freight Forwarding Industry
  • Ability to drive strong execution of initiatives, ensuring that the Countries get things right the first time through questioning, analyzing, planning and follow-up
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet various deadlines
  • Intermediate computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical skills including ability to analyze numbers and attention to detail
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with clients, carriers, other forwarders, vendors
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a bonus but not a must; Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations staff and keep employees compliant with company policies and procedures
  • Manage, develop and train staff, establish and monitor goals, and conduct performance reviews
  • Assume ownership over team productivity and manage workflow to meet or exceed quality service goals
  • Prepare and submit Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) codes to US Customs
  • Prepare shipping documentation, maintaining compliance with US Customs and international regulations
  • Responsible for proper processing of export shipments and designing export strategies to meet project delivery requirements
  • Assist in identifying and improving service and operations related issues in a station, including on-time delivery, accurate and timely data entry, and efficient warehouse operations
  • Assist in auditing and researching service performance issues and develop recommendations for improvements
  • Maintain the security of freight in accordance with security procedures
  • Ensure a safe working environment through consistent practice of safety programs and procedures
  • Consult with suppliers and agents to arrange proper in-transit permissions to ship to various locations
