About The Position

The Freight Brokerage Strategic Account Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of new and existing customers by developing relationships with transportation providers. This role involves creating a carrier coverage strategy and ensuring that customer transportation needs are met effectively. The position requires direct engagement with cross-functional teams to build a network of service providers and maintain strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with transportation providers to maximize penetration of customer freight portfolio through soliciting capacity.
  • Lead a small group of Strategic Account Managers (SMA's) as a mentor and support all parties with carrier-related issues.
  • Tender accept/reject loads, create loads, set appointments, dispatch, track and trace loads, and resolve issues with carriers and customers.
  • Negotiate rates with transportation providers to achieve commission targets and account goals.
  • Manage day-to-day planning and scheduling of coverage for loads to meet customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations during scheduling and dispatching.
  • Maintain a positive employee climate and achieve a high customer satisfaction index while being available 24/7/365 for responsibilities.
