About The Position
LS Nexus, LLC is seeking a dedicated Freight Broker to join our team in Cedar Rapids, IA. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the logistics of freight transportation, ensuring that loads are picked up and delivered efficiently. Your primary duties will include contacting owner operators and small fleets to check for capacity availability, scheduling pickups and deliveries, and dispatching loads to trucks and carriers using our Transportation Management System (TMS). You will oversee the progress of drivers on their loads and maintain communication with shippers and receivers to coordinate truck scheduling and address any changes that may arise. Additionally, you will be tasked with soliciting additional loads from shippers and organizing routing to meet the needs of both customers and drivers. As a Freight Broker, you will also manage relationships with drivers and fleet owners, making necessary load assignment changes as situations evolve. Accurate reporting of updates in the dispatch system is crucial, and you will be expected to perform other duties as assigned. This position requires a strong ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, as you will be delegating tasks and handling a fast-paced work environment. You must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, solve problems efficiently, and utilize critical reasoning skills to gather and apply factual information. A solid understanding of computer systems, particularly Windows and Excel, is necessary, along with the ability to use mathematics for decision-making. Multilingual skills are a plus, enhancing your ability to connect with a diverse range of clients and partners.
