About The Position

The Freezer Manager is responsible for receiving product and ensuring that freezers are stocked, labeled, clean, and that delivered product is packed out. The role also emphasizes providing proper customer service and developing relationships with large customers. This position supervises the Assistant Freezer Manager, Freezer Supervisors, and Stockers to ensure that shelves are stocked and merchandise is rotated. The Freezer Manager develops schedules, monitors performance, and recommends appropriate discipline as necessary. Training employees in job responsibilities and safe operating procedures is a key function, along with interviewing candidates and recommending hires. The manager ensures compliance with HACCP regulations through inspections and audits, reviews inventory for product rotation, supervises receiving of freezer products, maintains accurate inventory levels, and oversees the ordering of products from vendors. The role also includes maintaining cleanliness in the area and ensuring proper merchandising of aisles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, OR High School Diploma or GED with at least 4 years experience in customer service, OR any appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, mass, and volume.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation.
  • Computer Literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper customer service and develop relationships with large customers.
  • Supervise Assistant Freezer Manager, Freezer Supervisors, and Stockers.
  • Develop schedules and monitor performance.
  • Train employees in job responsibilities and safe operating procedures.
  • Interview candidates and recommend hires.
  • Discipline employees when necessary and recommend terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP regulations and conduct periodic audits.
  • Review inventory for product rotation to prevent shrinkage and damages.
  • Ensure correct shelf pricing reflecting recent pricing and market conditions.
  • Supervise the receiving of all freezer products and ensure proper paperwork is completed.
  • Maintain accurate computer inventory levels and perform regular physical inventories.
  • Maintain refrigerated equipment and ensure maintenance contracts are followed.
  • Supervise ordering of freezer products from vendors.
  • Ensure employees can operate necessary equipment.
  • Coordinate proper tagging and cleanliness of pallets and area.
  • Communicate low stock/out of stock information to the Inventory Controller.
  • Ensure all signage is correct and reflects flyer prices.
  • Coordinate proper merchandising of aisles and impulse areas.
  • Perform weekly self audits on the freezer department.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.
