Job Summary Handles the operation of various pieces of equipment used in processing whey.

Requirements

Computer experience helpful
Must be mechanically inclined
Cannot have any lifting restrictions
Self-motivated and ability to work with little supervision
Must be able to work in cold (Temperatures as low as negative 35 degrees) and dusty conditions and go up & down stairs
Must be accurate in taking samples & performing tests
Ability to operate (or learn to operate) necessary equipment
Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality
Ability to stand and walk the entire shift if needed
Ability to read and write instructions in English
Knowledge of the proper use of all cleaning chemicals
Must be able to work weekends, and overtime as required

Responsibilities

Efficiently operate all whey processing equipment (Freeze Dryer, Hydroflaker, Packaging Equipment, & Sterile filter if required)
Collect and deliver all required samples to the laboratory
Monitor operation of equipment and make adjustments to produce top quality products
Trouble shoots equipment to improve and maintain operating efficiencies
Operate and maintain all CIP systems
Keep work area clean and uncluttered
Assist with training people or other operators
Read through Standard Operating Procedures and help update them when possible
Take readings and fill out equipment log sheets
Clean the interior & exterior of the plant (master sanitation)
Monitor & Report all product spills, safety hazards, and equipment problems
Take an active role in team participation i.e. HACCP, Food Safety etc
Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
Perform other duties as assigned
