About The Position

The Freelance IT Support Specialist role at Spectrum News is designed to provide comprehensive support to end users regarding in-house computer systems, desktops, laptops, applications, and peripherals. This position involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining hardware and software to ensure an optimal user experience. The specialist will also be responsible for documenting issues, providing training, and collaborating with team members on various IT projects, all while adhering to a flexible schedule that may include late nights or early mornings.

Responsibilities

  • Support end users with equipment, applications, and IT-related resources.
  • Receive, prioritize, respond to, document, and actively resolve end user PC, Mac, hardware, and application requests via ticketing system, calls, and walk-ups.
  • Test fixes to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
  • Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
  • Continuous cybersecurity patching, updates, and upgrades, keeping spreadsheets updated with the latest status.
  • Accurately document instances of hardware or software failure and repair.
  • Work on projects with team members and meet deadlines and goals.
  • Assist with upgrades, installs, triaging, and troubleshooting in collaboration with the Dalet and Engineering team.
  • Use various tools and reporting agents to track down and patch security vulnerabilities on clients and servers.
  • Support remote users by implementing remote tools to troubleshoot and resolve end user issues.
  • Assist Systems Engineers with reporting on and patching servers.
  • Create scripts, push updates and security patches, and design reports to track patches and keep clients up-to-date.
  • Triage tickets, calls, and walk-ups to find the best path of resolution.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware and networking hardware products.
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex computer/application problems for various end users.
  • Maintain an inventory of all computers, monitors, and peripheral equipment.
  • Monitor and test PC performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Construct, install, and test customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems.
  • Document resolutions via the ticketing system.
  • Liaise with third-party support for hardware equipment and software vendors if necessary.
  • Actively continue learning new applications, skills, and technologies.
