About The Position

MLB Network seeks a Freelance Broadcast Operations Specialist to assist the Broadcast Operations team in responding to the operations, sales, and technical needs of MLB Network. Responsibilities: Support department managers with daily responsibilities. Assist the traffic department with daily network log checks for accurate show timings, advertiser conflicts and commercial placements. Day of air, check in with Master Control, Tech Managers, and Acquisitions group prior to show shift to discuss production and operational plans. Monitor daily game and studio feeds to help ensure transmission is suitable for air. Compare and confirm game transmission sources with MLBN Master Control. Work alongside Sales, Production, and Programing departments to plan and manipulate live broadcast schedule as needed. Communicate day of air changes to Master Control and Traffic departments. Adjust daily live show memos as it relates to sponsorships change requests and commercial breaks as the day dictates. Provide rights holder commercial formats and listen lines to Production control room and Master Control during live no hitters and/or perfect games. React to programing updates, breaking news and Production needs with a strong sense of urgency and accuracy. Assign and establish MLB International game conference bridges. Assist Operations Managers in managing MLB Network captioning. Other such duties as required.

Requirements

A minimum of 2 years’ applicable experience in the broadcast television operations industry is preferred.
Strong computer skills, including Excel.
Demonstrable basic knowledge of television production, operations and transmission.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Professional demeanor, organized, and detail oriented.
Ability to communicate and make informed and effective decisions in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product in a dimly-lit control room environment.
Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
Bachelor’s degree is required.
