Freelance Assistant Designer
About The Position
Our client is an established apparel company specializing in Women's and Men's categories is seeking a Freelance Assistant Designer with experience in sweaters or wovens. This team-driven environment offers the opportunity to support the full design lifecycle and contribute to seasonal product development. The Freelance Assistant Designer will support the Sweaters/Wovens Design team in day-to-day tasks, including creating CADs from hand sketches, developing tech packs, preparing trims and color cards, and assisting with line sheets. This role is ideal for someone highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to work across multiple stages of the design process.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Knowledge of sweaters.
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Excellent communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Woven experience is a plus.
- PLM experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Support the Design team in all aspects of the design process from concept through final seasonal deliveries.
- Create technical flats, assist with patternmaking/draping, and participate in model fittings.
- Produce hand sketches and translate them into CADs.
- Assist with seasonal concept research and development.
- Create tech packs and help maintain line sheets.
- Support material development and color sourcing.
- Attend fit sessions and take detailed notes on revisions, fit comments, and updates.
