About The Position

Partnership with Children works with public schools in New York City’s highest-need communities to provide critical social and emotional supports for the hardest-to-reach youth and to systematically build schools that are safe, successful and conducive to learning. Partnership with Children will be implementing the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom Schools® program in one of our partner schools during the summer of 2026. The CDF Freedom Schools® program is an educational and cultural enrichment program that provides summer options for elementary school children and strengthens family and community involvement. The program serves children in grades first through 5 th f or six weeks. The activity -based program integrates reading, conflict resolution, and social action, and is d esigned to promote social, cultural, and historical awareness. T he Site Coordinator will manage the day -to-day operations and serve as the supervisor to a team of Servant Leaders (interns) for one CDF Freedom Schools® program site serving 40 students for six weeks. The ideal Site Coordinator is committed to the goals of the program, able to work collaboratively with all program constituents and will gain familiarity with the culture and dynamics of the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, required
  • Registered voter required
  • At least 6 months of administrative and leadership experience in summer camps or after-school programs, and strong leadership and management skills (specifically leading college-age interns)
  • Exhibit positive behavior and attitude; model a mature and professional demeanor
  • Possess excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong appreciation and understanding of individual cultural history and the willingness to be open and respectful of other cultures

Nice To Haves

  • Servant Leader Intern experience at a CDF Freedom Schools site , preferred
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with Project Director and Community School Director to recruit participants for the program
  • Work in conjunction with Project Director and CSD to recruit, hire, train and manage Servant Leaders (paid interns)
  • Maintain the safety of all staff and students on - site
  • Ensure proper implementation of the CDF Freedom Schools program model by managing daily site activities and tracking program components in the Partner Information Community (PIC) database required by CDF and PWC’s attendance and outreach database
  • Attend all trainings (see below)
  • Serve in a supervisory capacity and as the primary contact for the Servant Leader Interns leading up to and during the Training Institute in Tennessee and throughout the 6-week program, including the day-to-day management of staff and approval of timecards
  • Work in conjunction with the Project Director and CSD or other designee to coordinate afternoon activities, field trips, family engagement initiatives and volunteer responsibilities
  • Ensure Servant L eader Interns have the necessary books, materials and supplies for all daily activities
  • Observe Servant Leader Interns facilitating Reading Curriculum lessons and provide constructive feedback frequently; evaluate Servant Leader Interns twice during the program and at program end
  • Ensure that the CDF Freedom Schools Integrated Reading Curriculum is implemented with fidelity
  • Collect program data, write end-of-summer report, and submit the report to CDF in a timely manner
