About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Fractional CFO with deep experience in construction and/or home services (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, restoration, or similar trades) to serve as the acting CFO across multiple client companies. This is a hands-on leadership role, not an advisory position. You will step directly into the CFO seat, own the finance function, and partner with ownership and operations leaders to improve cash flow, margins, and operational performance. This opportunity is ideal for a senior Controller, Director of Finance, or current Fractional CFO who already operates at a CFO level and wants broader exposure, flexibility, and meaningful impact across multiple organizations. The role is execution-focused and relationship-driven, requiring someone who can make decisions, build scalable financial infrastructure, and lead with authority.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience; CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Significant senior-level finance leadership experience supporting commercial construction, general contracting, specialty trades, or home services organizations
  • Demonstrated expertise in construction-specific financial operations, including:
  • Job costing and project margin analysis
  • Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Cash flow forecasting tied to backlog and project cycles
  • Labor-driven P&L management
  • Multi-entity or complex operational environments
  • Experience advising leadership teams within project-based, contract-driven revenue models
  • Experience supporting companies typically ranging from $20M to $250M+ in annual revenue
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario-planning capabilities within construction environments
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and accounting standards applicable to construction entities
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems commonly used in construction (e.g., Sage, Foundation, Viewpoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial advisory services in a consultative capacity
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present financial insights to ownership, executives, and board-level audiences
  • Ability to operate independently, manage multiple client priorities, and deliver outcomes within evolving business environments
