About The Position

The Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or unregistered Dental Assistant with X-ray certification with experience functions under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist in the state of New Jersey. The candidate provides patient care, take X-rays, keep records, and schedule appointments. The Registered Dental Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation, and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies. Prepares operatory for patient treatment as per Dental Department protocols and the dentist or dental hygienist's directions. Assists patients in resolving minor difficulties, answering their questions, and giving directions to patients as authorized by the dentist or dental hygienist. Insures the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with Dental Department directive, center policy as well as state and federal regulation(s). Follows all regulations, protocols and procedures including but not limited to participating in the provision of clinical dental care, as well as workplace safety, public health, and patient confidentiality in keeping with HIPAA rules and regulations. Finally, the dental assistant works collaboratively and teaches new staff, students, and interns, the use of equipment and proper dental protocol as it relates to patient care

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply policies and guidelines
  • Ability to obtain information from a variety of sources
  • Certified Dental Assistant/Registered Dental Assistant by NJ State Board of Dentistry
  • Licensed by the State of NJ, Department of Environmental Protection
  • BLS required within 6months of hire
  • 1-3 years dental assistant experience required
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire
