We are seeking a candidate with FPGA development experience to join the Physical Sciences & Systems (PS2) group in Cambridge, Massachusetts. What will you do Join a world-class team that works with a broad range of government agencies to solve problems that are both technically challenging and have a real-world operational impact. The candidate will support state-of-the-art experimental testbeds for quantum information systems, integrated photonic systems, real-time sensor processing systems, and other physical sciences pursuits. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge in digital systems, HDL, signal processing, hands-on experience with development of real-time embedded systems, and willingness to support limited off-site testing. Knowledge of high-speed interfaces and experience developing in multiple programming domains, including RTL, VHDL, Verilog, and scripting languages is a plus.

  • The candidate will support state-of-the-art experimental testbeds for quantum information systems, integrated photonic systems, real-time sensor processing systems, and other physical sciences pursuits.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related discipline; or Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Professional experience in FPGA development processes: RTL design, verification, timing analysis, lab bring up and validation
  • Understanding of DSP fundamentals and their implementation on FPGAs
  • Understanding of computing and processor architectures
  • Software development experience in C/C++
  • Python Scripting development experience (bash, Tcl, etc.)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience with SoC boards running bare metal code as well as configuring and deploying embedded Linux (e.g. Petalinux)
  • Experience with RFSoC boards and/or high-speed analog signal generation and digitization
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces, including experience in Ethernet, serial point to point communication (sFPDP, SPI), and high-speed memory interfaces (HBM2, DDR)
  • Familiarity with building Linux drivers for FPGA peripherals
  • Experience with high level synthesis tools, including BlueSpec System Verilog
  • Experience working with domain experts to define requirements and design systems to be used in experimental or operational environments
