About The Position

EBAD is seeking a skilled and motivated FPGA Design Engineer to join our Product Design team. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of FPGA-based solutions—from concept and architecture through implementation, verification, and integration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in FPGA design and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in FPGA design and development.
  • Experience with FPGA design tools such as Libero, Vivado, Quartus, Diamond, or similar.
  • Knowledge of FPGA architectures (e.g., Microchip, Xilinx, Altera/Intel, Lattice).
  • Ability to perform synthesis, timing analysis, and optimization for FPGA designs.
  • Experience with risk analysis techniques, such as FMECA and fault tree analysis, applied to FPGA designs.
  • Demonstrated competency in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal generators for FPGA debugging and validation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Verification and Validating derived Requirements in FPGA Design.
  • Experience with tools such as Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., DOD, SAE, IEEE, and IPC).
  • Experience in analog, digital, or mixed signal designs.
  • Familiarity with RCC-319 and/or JOTP-51 safety standards.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, TCL).
  • Familiarity with tools such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, and SPICE (e.g. Multisim, PSpice, LTspice).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement FPGA-based solutions, overseeing all technical design aspects from concept through development and verification.
  • Develop and maintain FPGA designs, including simulation models and documentation.
  • Perform design trade studies to evaluate FPGA resource utilization, performance, and power efficiency.
  • Optimize synthesis and place-and-route to meet resource and timing constraints.
  • Verify functional and timing requirements using simulation tools such as ModelSim.
  • Conduct risk reduction testing and validation on hardware implementations using standard lab equipment (e.g., logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
  • Work with customers to define requirements, interfaces, and functional specifications.
  • Derive, allocate, and flow down system requirements to FPGA requirements.
  • Review FPGA implementations for technical compliance and functional safety.
  • Coordinate with project teams to successfully integrate FPGAs into target systems.
