About The Position

The FPECC Psychiatrist position at New York City Health + Hospitals Correctional Health Services involves conducting court-ordered evaluations of criminal defendants and providing supervision and teaching for clinicians in training. The role requires active participation in staff meetings and quality improvement projects, as well as compliance with organizational policies. The psychiatrist may also be required to conduct evaluations at various FPECC locations as needed.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience writing forensic psychiatric reports (may include fellowship training)
  • Graduation from an approved medical school
  • Completion of approved residency or fellowship in the specialty or sub-specialty and Board eligible or certified or Subboard eligible or certified
  • Five years experience in field of specialty or subspecialty acceptable to the Medical Board of the Hospital
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York

Responsibilities

  • Conduct court-ordered evaluations of criminal defendants and submit timely written reports to the Courts
  • Provide teaching and supervision for clinicians in training
  • Participate in regular supervision with the Director of the Manhattan FPECC
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, clinic quality improvement projects, and continuing education
  • Remain aware of and in compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Conduct CPL 730 and CPL 390 evaluations in other FPECCs as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Manhattan Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court Clinic or the city-wide Director of the Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court Clinics
