About The Position

Mueller Water Products has an immediate opening for a Foundry Production Planner at our Decatur, IL foundry location. The Foundry Production Planner effectively plans and implements work for assigned production shops ensuring parts or materials and manpower are available for the shop to perform the work. This role is critical in maintaining the flow of production and ensuring that all necessary resources are available to meet production demands. The planner will be responsible for making decisions regarding the release, firming, cancellation, or deferral of work based on current inventory levels, demand forecasts, capacity constraints, and material availability. In addition to managing work schedules, the Foundry Production Planner is responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels to ensure that production can proceed without delays. This includes planning for engineering changes and ensuring that Engineering Change Notice (ECN) instructions are clear and adhered to. The planner will work closely with Production and Purchasing teams to halt procurement of materials affected by changes and will keep designated engineers informed about the status of ECN implementations. Furthermore, the planner will coordinate the proper rotation of inventory to minimize scrap and reworked parts during the incorporation process. The role also involves conducting capacity analyses for specific work centers and machines to determine the need for additional tools or capital equipment. The Foundry Production Planner must ensure that the capacity plan is followed and troubleshoot potential capacity issues on an ongoing basis. Implementing Flow Manufacturing techniques into production is a key responsibility, as is understanding and facilitating the use of KANBANs, Wait/Work Boards, and Method Sheets to ensure the highest quality and linearity in production within a Flow Manufacturing Environment.
