Job Summary: Teaches the basic principles, concepts and skills of assigned career technical training cluster prior to students’ enrollment into their chosen career training area.

Requirements

Above average public speaking skills and experience in same, above average verbal and written skills, above average problem-solving skills and conflict resolution skills, experience with Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite, ability to work some evening hours and periodic weekends.
  • Minimum of three years related experience in the industry and/or teaching.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Must be certified, licensed or accredited in state center is located, or accredited by a professional trade organization.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches the basic principles and concepts of career technical training skills to students as part of industry cluster foundation course and prepare students for basic training related credential exam.
  • Motivate and counsel students in areas of retention, career success standards, career readiness, social skills and other areas as described in the career preparation curriculum.
  • Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes.
  • Provide a classroom atmosphere conducive to continuous learning and student retention.
  • Administer and correct tests and other assessment instruments; maintain and monitor student accountability and attendance daily in center information system (CIS).
  • Monitor and document student’s progress in the (CIS) reports and case notes.
  • Assist in the development of the center’s career preparation plan.
  • Observe, analyze and document accomplishments, attendance, job ethics, and personal appearance to determine readiness for movement to the career development period.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy and Center Behavior Management System by ensuring students demonstrate and practice set behavioral expectations that support employability and social development for career readiness success that are consistent with Center policies and expectations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff, and other center customers.
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities; develop and conduct enrichment programs as needed or assigned.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, consistently monitoring student behavior and conduct, and mentoring students where necessary.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices; attend all required staff training.
  • Coordinate with other staff and departments regarding issues related to the provision of student services and to interdepartmental and center programs, activities, and events.
  • Follows CDSS/CSS/BM plans and procedures daily.
  • Maintains Good Housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  • Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and center policies and procedures.
  • Utilize all possible curriculum resources available at the center.
  • Assist in completion of students resumes.
  • Assist with graduation exercise.
  • Participation in the PRH mandated staffing training is mandatory.
  • Other duties as assigned.
