About The Position

Wake County Child Welfare currently serves over 450 children in our foster care system. The Human Services Foster Parent Recruiter/Trainer will recruit, train and license foster families to care for children, youth and young adults in the WCHHS foster program. The Recruiter/Trainer will provide TIPS-MAPP, NTDC and/or CFOO Training and support to regular, ICPC, and kinship families interested in becoming foster parents. This role will train families in both virtual and classroom settings. The Recruiter will train and lead a caseload of foster families through the licensure process. This role requires a solid ability to plan, organize and follow a detailed schedule, to prioritize and manage time well to license multiple families by established deadlines; excellent writing skills including the ability to write detailed and thorough home studies using proper grammar; excellent verbal and interview skills including the ability to conduct detailed interviews and comprehensive assessments; and the ability to initiate crucial conversations and discuss personal and sensitive information. This role requires critical thinking, problem-solving, decision making and sound judgement, including making recommendations for licensure. This role requires the ability to work well with others as well as a solid ability to work independently. This role carefully reviews the information provided and uses this information to ensure that a match is made with a foster family that has the skills to meet the unique needs of each child placed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field
  • Three years of job-related experience
  • Completion of the NC Child Welfare Education Collaborative (CWEC) traineeship can be substituted for 1 year of experience
  • Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and retain foster families
  • Present at both large and small Information Meetings, Lunch-n-Learn Sessions, speaking at meetings, attending networking events, in the community regarding becoming Wake County Foster Parents
  • Expand partnerships with businesses, civic groups, schools and Faith Partnerships to increase number of families recruited and licensed
  • Set up/break down vendor booths, coordinate and represent WCHHS at community festivals, parades, business/civic/school groups, faith partnership events using the recruitment equipment and materials
  • Collaborate and coordinate marketing and advertisement of events with the Communications Office
  • Update Recruitment material as needed to reflect the most current data and information regarding children in care
  • Coordinate events throughout the year to include National Foster Care Month which is recognized annually in May of each year
  • Strategically manage social media platforms to maximize social media exposure, & drive community engagement and website traffic
  • Create and optimize content including texting posts, images & videos (go-live and pre-recorded) for use on social media with a special focus on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter
  • Network and promote interest in foster care & fostering in a way that is consistent with Wake County’s brand and social media strategy
  • This role requires the availability and willingness to recruit and train during some evenings and weekends as well as assisting with After Hours On-Call Child Placement as assigned.
