About The Position

The Foster Care Treatment Advocate position at the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) offers a part-time opportunity for individuals interested in a career in social services, particularly in child welfare and behavioral health. This role involves direct, hands-on work with adolescents, youth, and children, as well as their families and community partners. Treatment Advocates provide advocacy and support through behavioral health and respite care for individuals with mental and behavioral health diagnoses in various settings, including home, community, and office environments. Responsibilities may include transportation, participation in community activities, and providing one-on-one in-home services. The position offers great flexibility, with a compensation rate of $20.00 per hour for approximately 30 hours of work per week.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • GED or High School Diploma required; Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in child welfare preferred.
  • Daily travel required with a willingness to meet clients on a flexible schedule or during non-traditional hours if needed.
  • Availability for after school hours, evenings, and weekends.
  • Working, reliable telephone required.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of the youth treatment/service plans.
  • Interact with the youth to develop a trusting, supportive relationship while assisting in achieving identified goals.
  • Provide oversight and participate in 1-on-1 activities with the client according to treatment plan.
  • Engage clients; document conversations and outcomes and submit paperwork for billing.
  • Identify outside resources and services in the community for youth development and goal attainment.
  • Provide transportation for client(s) to and from outside locations and activities as needed.
  • Maintain flexible availability to meet client needs & participate in on-call rotations.
