About The Position

Forever Families, Inc. has been serving the metro Detroit communities since 1997. Forever Families is a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive social services that empower individuals and families. Our programs include Foster Care, Licensing, State Ward Adoption, Private Domestic Adoption, and Behavioral Health Services. The Foster Care Case Manager will provide case management services to families and children in the Child Welfare system. Our preferred candidate will have great communication skills, strong time management, organization, excellent writing skills, and the ability to be empathetic and open and honest with families. We are seeking an individual to work as a Foster Care Case Manager. This individual must have a passion for working with children and families and understand that our primary goal is family reunification. The Foster Care Case Manager will provide case management services to families and children in the Child Welfare system. Our preferred candidate will have great communication skills, strong time management, organization, excellent writing skills, and the ability to be empathetic and open and honest with families. The individual must be able to work as a team with all involved parties. The candidate must be competent with technology (MISACWIS) and be able to work independently. A successful candidate should be able to learn the requirements of their position, state and agency policies and procedures, and be comfortable conducting home visits and attending court hearings. The candidate will need to demonstrate professionalism at all times. You will be part of a welcoming, helpful, and dedicated team of social workers, administrative professionals, and support staff. You will receive supportive supervision and an open door policy from the management team. You will have the support of case aides for assistance monitoring birth family visits and filing paperwork. You will receive professional development opportunities and have the opportunity to advance within the agency. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Human Services related field (per MDHHS Policy).
  • One year experience in foster care, adoption, or another child welfare or related services preferred.
  • New foster care workers are required to attend 12 weeks of CWTI training and receive a passing grade on two examinations prior to receiving a full caseload.
  • Must have a passion for working with children and families and understand that our primary goal is family reunification.
  • Must have great communication skills, strong time management, organization, excellent writing skills, and the ability to be empathetic and open and honest with families.
  • Must be competent with technology (MISACWIS) and be able to work independently.
  • Be able to learn the requirements of their position, state and agency policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate professionalism at all times.
  • Have the ability to work in the U.S. legally
  • Pass a Criminal and Protective Services background check

  • The week off between Christmas and New Years (agency is closed)
  • ½ day Fridays from Memorial Day to Labor Day (contingent on the agency achieving a successful annual state audit)
  • Monday through Friday; 8 hour work day
  • Availability/Flexibility within own schedule to meet the needs/schedules of clients, including evenings and weekends as needed.
