About The Position

The Foster Care/Out of Home Care Case Manager is responsible for providing licensing and support to foster care families and kinship care homes. This role involves assessing potential foster parent applicants, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines, and developing support plans tailored to the needs of individual children placed in foster homes. The Case Manager will also conduct home visits, collaborate with other case managers, and address any licensing violations or incidents that arise.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of casework principles and methods, social systems, family dynamics, group and individual behavior.
  • Knowledge of dynamics of child maltreatment.
  • Knowledge of professional social work interviewing principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Wisconsin Children's Code, Indian Child Welfare Act, and Juvenile Court policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of community resources and their availability to clients.
  • Knowledge of child development and child rearing skills.
  • Ability to utilize a computer and required software.
  • Ability to diagnose and assess human problem situations, particularly in child maltreatment.
  • Ability to make constructive decisions under pressure and crises.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with various collateral resources.

  • Experience working with children and families in crisis situations.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and support services.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Foster Care Families to provide licensing and support for youth placed in their homes.
  • Assess potential foster parent applicants and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines during the licensing process.
  • Develop and implement support plans for foster parents to address training and other needs for individual children.
  • Review potential licensing violations and incidents as they arise.
  • Collaborate with initial assessment and ongoing case managers to determine the best placement match for children.
  • Participate in monthly home visits and be an active member of child-focused teams.
