About The Position

Operating under the administrative oversight of the Senior Program Director or designee, the Foster Care Coordinator provides leadership to an assigned team of foster care staff and is responsible for ensuring program compliance with all applicable licensing, contractual, and regulatory requirements. The Coordinator oversees the design, implementation, and delivery of high quality foster care services, including recruitment, training, certification, and ongoing support of foster families. This role provides comprehensive oversight of foster home case management activities, initial and annual update certification processes, and compliance documentation, ensuring foster homes remain licensed, supported, and aligned with regulatory standards and best practices. The Foster Care Coordinator ensures that recruitment and training efforts are effective, responsive to community needs, and support the development of safe, stable, and nurturing foster homes. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social services related field with at least 9 college credit hours in family focus, individual functions and interactions, child development, sociology, social work or closely related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in a leadership position with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Four (4) years experience working with children and families in a child welfare or social services setting.
  • Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and supporting children and families.
  • Accepting interpersonal approach that reflects cultural sensitivity to the unique and diverse experiences of staff members and individuals
  • Knowledge and understanding of the child welfare system, including foster care.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer operations and applications, including Microsoft, and the ability to master other computer technology / software programs as required.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving needs and respond to urgent priorities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Process, protect, and exercise discretion in handling confidential information and materials
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, community partners, organizations, and the public

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate capacity for providing developmentally sensitive, evidence-based, culturally sensitive, hope centered, and trauma informed services.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members, including setting performance expectations, monitoring progress, and providing regular feedback, coaching, and addressing performance issues as needed.
  • Facilitate professional development through training, skill building, mentoring, and ongoing support to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Conduct regular team meetings and case consultations to review progress, address challenges, ensure compliance, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement with recruitment, certification, annual updates, and case management of foster homes.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee foster care recruitment, certification, annual updates, case management and support services, policies, and procedures aligned with best practices, accreditation standards, OKDHS policy, and contractual requirements.
  • Direct the daily operations of the assigned team and program components including but not limited to: staff supervision; caseload oversight, foster family recruitment, certification/re-certification, and training, review, and approval; placement approvals; file audits; quality improvement activities; and coordination of partnership contracts and services.
  • Ensure all supervised program components comply with agency policies, licensing standards, accreditation and oversight requirements, contractual obligations, funding requirements, reporting expectations, performance and outcome measures.
  • Serve as a resource to staff and foster families by providing crisis consultation, routine case consultation, and child placement approvals, seeking guidance from the Senior Program Director or designated leadership as appropriate.
  • Thoroughly assess, review, and approve resource family assessments, records checks, annual updates, and other required documents for compliance with OKDHS and agency standards.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting in accordance with program, contract, and agency requirements, utilizing the agency designated EHR and reporting systems
  • Develop and implement a foster care recruitment plan and meet or exceed established foster family recruitment and retention goals
  • Oversee and assist with routine file reviews of family and child records as part of routine program level audits, ensuring documentation accuracy and sustained compliance.
  • Represent Sunbeam Family Services professionally in the community, including collaboration with partners, consultation and education activities, presentations, and media or public engagements as required.
  • Maintain working knowledge of and compliance with agency policies and procedures and applicable accrediting and oversight bodies, including but not limited to COA and Head Start standards, as applicable.
  • Adhere to the Sunbeam Code of Ethics, HIPAA, confidentiality requirements, and professional standards at all times.
  • Travel locally as required to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor, Senior Program Director, or Executive Team member.
