Fortune is seeking smart and energetic early-career journalists to join our newsroom for six-month fellowships starting in October or January, focused on business and trending news, crypto news, social and other areas in the newsroom. Candidates must have graduated from undergraduate or graduate school. Previous relevant experience like internships at publications and work at collegiate publications as well as experience and keen interest in business, economics, and leadership news are strongly preferred. An integral part of the Fortune newsroom, fellows learn by doing, to research, report, write, and produce coverage. They also learn about the workings of a storied and award-winning digital and print business publication and receive training and direction from newsroom leaders and veterans.

  • Be assigned to a specific team and focus, including Audience Development and Social Media, Business and Trending News, Crypto News, or Social Video.
  • Report and write your own stories, likely a mix of quick hits and in-depth pieces, and/or curate, produce, and package Fortune coverage.
  • Pitch stories and take assignments; participate in brainstorming sessions.
  • Craft explainers, profiles, trend pieces, evergreen articles, social videos, and/or newsletter editions to help readers understand key topics, companies, prominent players, and trends.
  • Contribute to flagship lists like the Fortune 500 and to industry-leading newsletters.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ensure coverage includes a diversity of ideas, perspectives, and voices.
  • Uphold Fortune’s standards of journalistic rigor, accuracy, and fairness.
  • Learn the inner workings of the newsroom and company.
  • Graduated from undergraduate or graduate school.
  • Previous relevant experience like internships at publications and work at collegiate publications.
  • Experience and keen interest in business, economics, and leadership news.
  • Thrive on economics and business news.
  • Value and balance speed and stamina with originality, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Consume a lot of news from a breadth of sources.
  • Write clean, accurate, and insightful copy on deadline.
  • Be ambitious, detail-oriented, deadline-driven, able to manage time and juggle multiple assignments.
  • Have a growth mindset; can take and internalize direction to grow in the role.
  • Can communicate and work effectively and professionally in the office.
  • Pay Rate: $25.71/hour.
  • Work 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday or Wednesday through Sunday (excluding company holidays).
