About The Position

This position will serve as a Fort Drum Information & Referrals Marketing Specialist for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County and will provide support to the Fort Drum Information and Referral Program. This position will assist with the planning and coordinating of short and long-range marketing plans and objectives for Soldier and Family Readiness Division programs, services, and initiatives, will organize and coordinate educational activities and events relating to these identified programs as delegated; and will coordinate assigned aspects of class registrations, preparing class materials (creating class packets, organizing class materials, etc.) and/or reporting processes; and providing other assistance in the support of programming efforts as needed. This position will conduct social media efforts and will be responsible for writing, design/layout of program flyers, newsletters, etc. This position will promote and support program activities and serve as an accessible resource to program staff and volunteers as appropriate, will utilize existing program resources and materials in program work. This position will support program activities and requirements consistent with the Soldier and Family Readiness Division and program accreditation standards. This position will represent Cornell Cooperative Extension to the general public, community leaders and government officials in a professional manner. Will appreciate and embrace diversity in all interactions with clientele, staff, volunteers, and the public.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (High School Diploma/GED and one (1) year transferable program/functional experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Implement already-established Fort Drum educational programing and activities as needs are identified to support the established plan of work.
  • Assist in providing information to military family members on employment opportunities, family development skills, relocation readiness needs, and skills/resources to promote financial stability.
  • Assist in providing SFRD Fort Drum educational programs via mass media.
  • Work to foster acceptance of Fort Drum Program methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.
  • Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and Fort Drum programming staff to achieve Association program delivery goals.
  • Assist with the planning and coordinating of short and long-range marketing plans and objectives for Soldier and Family Readiness Division programs, services, and initiatives.
  • Assist in identifying customer needs for marketing and planning purposes.
  • Assist with planning information campaigns and SFRD programs, classes, events, and services.
  • Assist with executing information campaigns and disseminating information on SFRD programs, classes, events, and services for the purpose of stimulating interest and participation and projecting a positive image of SFRD.
  • Create, produce, and coordinate promotional and written materials and products for command-wide dissemination including pamphlets, brochures, flyers, booklets, photographs, posters, cards, displays and news articles.
  • Monitor and update social media to include posting and sharing SFRD information and identifying appropriate local community information to be shared.
  • Answer telephones and assist or direct calls to appropriate person.
  • Maintain Information and Referral Program administrative files and statistical data and generate reports as needed.
  • Greet and direct visitors and maintain sign in logs.
  • Schedule meetings and classes as requested.
  • Communicate updated community resources (both military and community) to clientele.
  • Enter data in various computer programs or into online forms and/or systems.
  • Provide support to other educators (i.e. filing, copying, formatting correspondence) as directed by Issue Leader and Fort Drum Program Managers.
  • Provide support with all correspondence as needed (letters, meeting materials and agendas, etc.).
  • Work with Issue Leader and Fort Drum Program Managers to create program flyers, brochures, educational materials, and other special projects as needed.
  • Provide assistance in the printing and preparation of newsletters as assigned/needed.
  • Perform other general office duties as needed/assigned.
  • Maintain effective professional relationships with other agencies, businesses, and the public to promote efficient utilization of resources, prevent duplication or services, and support the mission and objective outlined in the Fort Drum agreement.
  • Maintain military and civilian networks for purposes of communication.
  • Maintain volunteer hours as appropriate and submit reports.
  • Collect evaluation data from program participants and support the Information and Referral Program Manager to conduct on-going assessments of Soldier and family need for program assistance.
  • In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
  • Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
  • Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
