About The Position

Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. The list is not all inclusive of duties that may be requested by the department head or a member of upper management but are intended for an understanding of the purpose of the position. It is the responsibility of each individual at AWG to provide ultimate customer service to our members to support their efforts in increasing same store sales and profits. This position's basic purpose is to use all available resources to assist the Distribution Department in continuous growth and financial success of the Membership and Company.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred; prior warehouse experience plus warehouse mobile equipment operating experience preferred.
  • Basic required competencies: Conscientiousness, detail oriented, safety minded, self motivated to achieve, high initiative, ability to work with limited supervision, team oriented, learning and applying information, ability to follow instructions in English (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to read and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence relating to position.
  • Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic math and algebra.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Posses the ability to work with coworkers and gain mutual respect with a common goal of increasing sales and profitability.
  • Must have the ability to operate safely warehouse mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Move pallets of product from the reserve slot locations to the pick location as required to keep the selection slots filled so out of stocks are reduced and/or eliminated.
  • Maintain standard of productivity.
  • Keep equipment clean and inspect daily, reporting any mechanical or operational issues to supervision.
  • Keep assigned work area clean, neat and organized by performing these tasks as an example: Pick up all chep pallets in aisles; keep pallets in selection slots straight and pushed forward; pallets in reserve slots must be straight and not hanging unsafe; no double stacking of pallets in pick slots; correct or inform supervisor regarding any broken pallets in the slots.
  • Remove tape and wrap from pallet before slotting.
  • Work as a member of the AWG team so the total job responsibilities are met.
  • Actions must always stress a sense of cooperation, integrity, tact and consideration with our members, associates and division management.
