About The Position

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Forklift Technician is responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a variety of material handling equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts. This role is essential to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment used in daily warehouse and industrial operations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in forklift and aerial equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Proven knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working with scissor lifts and boom lifts (Skyjack or similar brands).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be team-oriented, able to problem-solve and troubleshoot.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe working behaviors including lockout, fall protection, confined space, and mobile equipment operation.
  • Demonstrated good housekeeping practices and 5S principles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on forklifts (electric, diesel, propane), scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform timely repairs.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed using maintenance logs.
  • Respond to breakdowns promptly and effectively to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct safety checks and troubleshooting lift systems, motors, hydraulics, and control systems.
  • Replace or repair faulty parts such as motors, hydraulic cylinders, hoses, sensors, and batteries.
  • Coordinate with vendors and order parts when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Assist with general facility maintenance as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
