About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to safely move and manage raw paper materials, in-process products, and finished goods within the press room, warehouse, storage yard, and factory. This role requires precise inventory control, adherence to safety protocols, and ability to operate various lifting devices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating forklifts and related equipment (including clamps) in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in starting, stopping, backing, and maneuvering forklifts through narrow aisles, ramps, and into transportation vehicles; ability to lift, lower, and tilt forks with precise hand/foot coordination.
  • Knowledge of forklift load capacities, dimensions (height/width/length), and site-specific clearance requirements.
  • Strong spatial awareness to judge doorways, aisles, shelves, and load placement.
  • Ability to assess load balance and whether the forklift can safely lift and transport a given load.
  • Familiarity with the layout of storage areas to locate and place items independently.
  • Skilled at maneuvering forklifts in confined spaces and tight stacking/removal environments.
  • Physical ability to exert 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly (as applicable to typical forklift tasks).
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks and standing for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in press room or paper/material handling environments.
  • Familiarity with palletization, staging, and tiering of products.
  • Knowledge of or experience with a materials management system.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate forklifts and related lifting devices (forklift, fork-grapple, clamps, elevating platform, trailer hitch) in the press room and adjacent areas to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, and move materials, equipment, and products.
  • Load and unload semi-trailers/trucks as needed.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and report discrepancies; use the materials management system for tracking and reporting.
  • Load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, or other lifting devices; organize and optimize storage space.
  • Perform safety checks and routine maintenance on lifts, report malfunctions.
  • Conduct basic vehicle maintenance tasks (lubrication, battery charging, refueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tanks as applicable).
  • Ensure proper load balancing and determine clearance heights/widths for safe operation; assess space and routes in tight environments.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures; contribute to a safe and efficient workplace.
