About The Position

The Production Forklift driver must follow all plant safety, Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety rules and regulations. Documentation and paperwork procedures must be followed as well as verbal and / or written instructions and guidelines according to the job requirements. The Production Forklift driver will be responsible for driving a forklift, receiving packaging materials, transferring materials to the production line(s) verifying quality standards, transfer finished goods from the production line(s), enter production counts into the computer system, print labels, wrap pallets, and load onto trailer, and maintaining good housekeeping. The Production Forklift driver will back-up the Production Worker I and Production Worker II as needed. This role does not have direct reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
  • Forklift certification required
  • 1 year experience within a food processing, bottling, liquid filling/blending and/or consumer goods manufacturing/packing environment preferred.
  • 2 years Forklift experience required
  • Ability to use common hand tools.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention is required to perform duties, involving repetitive or diversified work requiring constant alertness or activity.
  • Basic mathematics skills required. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and perform simple division calculations.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new job-related software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be respectful and work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duty on any shift and work overtime on short notice basis. Long-term, temporary assignments to any shift may be required to maintain manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work in high temperatures (hot or cold), working at heights and exposure to strong smells, dust, gases, fumes and chemical or require personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to see, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, ascend/ descend.
  • Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50+ lbs. with assistance.

  • 1 year experience within a food processing, bottling, liquid filling/blending and/or consumer goods manufacturing/packing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Mizkan America safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Receive packaging materials, compete trailer inspections, and exchange paperwork / BOL.
  • Record & count bundles/cases of containers provided to the production line.
  • Transfer packaging materials to the production line.
  • Maintain counts of cases produced to ensure the production plan is achieved.
  • Transfer finished goods from the production line to the pallet wrapper.
  • Operate pallet wrapper as needed, enter production numbers into the computer system, print and apply labels.
  • Load finished goods into shuttle trailers and complete paperwork.
  • Assist with package changeovers as needed.
  • Use safety cutters and hand tools
  • Assist as a back-up on the bottling lines as needed.
  • Follow all safety rules to include but not limited to LOTO and keep area clean and in orderly condition.
  • Responsible for food product quality and safety.
