About The Position

Forklift Operators serve internal and external customers by quickly, safely, and accurately building and loading pallets of product to be delivered to Enhanced customers. Essential functions include building pallets accurately, utilizing a forklift to load pallets into truck bays, adhering to all company policies and safety requirements (e.g., OSHA, AIB, Pepsi standards), stacking products for stability, communicating with co-workers, supervisors, and management regarding work activities and issues, completing required paperwork such as equipment safety checklists and time-off requests, working assigned schedules including overtime as needed, notifying restockers of stock outages, maintaining warehouse cleanliness and organization, moving and parking trucks for efficient loading, and training new employees. This position also involves handling, stocking, and organizing alcoholic products.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 6-12 months forklift experience in a warehouse environment
  • Knowledge of warehouse/food distribution environment; beverage industry
  • Skill in internal customer service
  • Ability to: count accurately
  • Ability to: read (e.g. load sheets) and write
  • Ability to: work independently, quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to: communicate effectively with other employees and develop good working relationships
  • Ability to: adapt to change
  • Ability to: obtain a forklift license
  • Ability to: operate a forklift, motorized pallet jack and other mechanical equipment
  • Ability to: perform basic math functions

Nice To Haves

  • previous food/beverage warehouse experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Builds pallets of product accurately by identifying proper location and quantity of product requested on build sheets.
  • Utilizes forklift to load pallets into truck bay; ensures that each pallet is loaded correctly into the correct truck bay as requested on build sheets.
  • Adheres to all company policies, standards and procedures (e.g. OSHA and safety requirements, AIB and Pepsi standards, Federal/State/Local laws); wears all personal protective equipment.
  • Stacks products and builds pallets according to established standards to ensure stability and safety of pallets.
  • Communicates with co-workers, supervisor and management team verbally regarding the status of work activities (e.g. loading process) and other information; supervisor regarding questions or issues with daily assignments; works with Load Auditors and Warehouse Management Team to resolve problems, errors and mis-picks.
  • Completes equipment safety checklists, build sheet forms, time-off requests and other required paperwork according to established standards.
  • Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed to meet workload demands.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Notifies restocker of stock outages so that product can be replenished on staging racks.
  • Maintains cleanliness and assists in the organization of the warehouse (e.g. cuts away shrink wrap from pallets, gathers damaged materials, cleans up spills, stocks and fills storage racks).
  • Moves and parks trucks in order to maintain efficient and timely loading process.
  • Trains new employees to perform Enhanced Forklift Operator job duties.
  • This position involves handling, stocking, and organizing alcoholic products.
