About The Position

The Forklift Operator plays a critical role in the manufacturing environment by efficiently and safely moving materials throughout the warehouse and production areas. This position ensures that raw materials, components, and finished goods are transported accurately to support continuous production flow and timely order fulfillment. The operator is responsible for operating various types of forklifts and material handling equipment to load, unload, stack, and organize inventory in designated locations. Attention to safety protocols and equipment maintenance is essential to prevent accidents and minimize downtime. Ultimately, the Forklift Operator contributes to the overall productivity and operational excellence of the manufacturing facility by maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse environment.

Requirements

  • Valid forklift operator certification or license in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience operating forklifts and related material handling equipment in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to read work orders, shipping documents, and inventory labels.
  • Physical ability to lift and move materials as required by the job (minimum of 50 lbs regularly).
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment safely.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (noise, dust, temperature variation as applicable).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with general warehouse operations and inventory management systems.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment. Sheet metal experience is a plus.
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor forklift maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, stand-up forklifts to move materials within the warehouse and production areas.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks, storage racks, and production lines while ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Stage materials for production according to work orders and production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in inventory management systems, including performing cycle counts.
  • Inspect forklifts and equipment daily to ensure safe operation and report any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment by stacking and storing materials in designated locations according to company standards.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to minimize risks and maintain compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to coordinate material flow and support operational needs.
