The forklift operator will operate a forklift safely in support of production operations and document material moved into and out of the production area.

Requirements

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to learn our computer system for entering shipments
Ability to manage time to ensure material flow stays consistent within assigned production
Forklift operation certification
Ability to read a tape measure

Responsibilities

Stocks and unloads work stations
Ensures dumpsters are emptied at the end of shift or as often as necessary
Performs pre-operational check on forklift and processes appropriate documentation
Follows safety standards of performance and maintains proper use of all personal protective equipment at all times of operation
Produces adequate scoring on forklift operation certification
Scores adequately on annual operation re-certification
Loads out bound trailer for shipment, documents trailer numbers, carrier, type of pallet, dock, and number of pallets being shipped as needed
Places pallets into designated areas for inventory where there are no outbound loads
Documents material moved into and out of workstations
Ensures quality standards are met
Identifies issues affecting quality and reporting all quality issues to supervisor
Maintains a smooth flow of material from machines to "work in process" area
Maintains a clean tow motor
Documents requests for repair to the Maintenance Department
Parks tow motor immediately if any safety issues occur
Assists in maintaining good housekeeping in area of assignment
Stocks and unloads station
Ensures dumpsters are dumped at the end of each shift and/or as frequently as necessary
Supplies product and documents the number of pallets or lumber run to the staging area
Interacts with yard in "work process" area and puts proper material in staging area
Maintains the ability to recognize, appreciate, and deal with safety hazards inherent in the work environment
Performs other related duties as assigned
