Forklift Operator
About The Position
Essential Functions: Operates forklift to unload incoming vehicles as needed. Counts, verifies and scans all incoming product at delivery time. Scans items in and out of assigned locations. Examines incoming shipments; reports damages and shortages to immediate supervisor. Keeps forklift in good, safe operating condition by daily check off of inspection report; reports any maintenance needs to maintenance. Tags all sheet stock being returned to board storage area; returns pallets to their designated area; stocked at appropriate height and straight. Observes and conforms to all company rules and regulations as outlined in the “employee handbook.” Initiate action to prevent problems, document quality problems, contribute solutions to problems, verify implementation of solutions and control further processing when a problem is identified. Respect and conform to all accepted safe work practices and standards. Attend on going in-house quality education classes.
Requirements
- Speak, read and write English and have math skills all at 8th grade level and / or related work experience.
- Must have good hand to eye coordination.
- Must be able to sit and drive forklift for long periods.
- Must have the ability to work well with others in a team environment, and to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Must be willing and able to obtain forklift certification.
