About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials and finished goods within the production and warehouse areas. This role involves operating forklifts to transport, load, and unload products while maintaining accuracy and preventing damage. The Forklift Operator plays a vital role in supporting production flow, ensuring materials are handled according to specifications, and contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of plant operations.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent safety awareness for self and others.
  • Good mechanical skills.
  • Proficiency in operating PLC screens.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills including addition and subtraction of multiple numbers and fractions.
  • Ability to read a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch.
  • Ability to work without constant supervision.
  • Ability to lift and move boards weighing 50 – 75 lbs. (with assistance).
  • Ability to mount and dismount forklift repeatedly for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb ladders/stairs, bend, push, pull, and reach for the duration of an 8-hour shift.

  • Preferred background in agricultural or industrial settings.

Responsibilities

  • Measure finished bunks using dial indicators and tape measures per End of Line instructions.
  • Package sanded products according to customer or company specifications.
  • Accurately complete production, packaging, and shipping documentation.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections before use.
  • Maintain forklift cleanliness and report maintenance issues to supervisor.
  • Operate forklift safely to prevent damage and avoid incidents or near misses.
  • Assist in other production roles as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks.
  • Communicate issues to Sander, Glue Line, Router, Panel Saw, or Rip Saw operators.
  • Support a positive work environment and team collaboration.
  • Communicate effectively during shift changes.
  • Follow all company policies, safety rules, and procedures.
  • Report product quality concerns related to dimensions or appearance.
  • Move materials safely to prevent product damage during handling.
  • Transport and place finished units in designated warehouse locations without damage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
