The Bulk Break Dock Supervisor’s role is to provide the highest level of front-line customer service to Oak Harbor Freight Lines internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in LTL freight, logistics or transportation.
  • Proven leadership, team building and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Must have good computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus).
  • Possess excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials preferred.
  • Must have strong work ethic and good problem-solving skills.
  • Must be available to work up to 50 hours/week average.
  • Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of hazardous materials preferred.
  • Must have good computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and assigns tasks for dock planning and setup.
  • Observes loading and/or unloading of trucks for proper handling and distribution of freight for transport.
  • Supervise operations, procedures, and freight movement.
  • Hold regular safety and communication meetings with employees.
  • Make sure that all line schedules depart on time.
  • Communicate with leaders, dockworkers, and customer service to troubleshoot freight delays or exceptions.
  • Review and revise schedules to increase efficiencies and to lower cost.
  • Creates and maintains a teamwork environment with employees.
  • Maintains equipment and facility for effective, clean and safe operations.
  • Report to the Operations Manager/Terminal Manager for other duties not listed.
