About The Position

Scholastic Book Fairs, in partnership with schools across the country, hosts more than 130,000 book fair events that give more than 35 million students and their families access to thousands of affordable and educational products, helping foster a lifelong love of reading. We are currently in search of Part Time Seasonal Equipment Operator associates to help our facilities build book fairs for schools. These part time seasonal positions offer a variety of hours to work during the peaks of the school year (Monday-Friday) and are typically off during summer and winter school leave periods. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
  • Must be trained and licensed to operate power equipment.
  • Minimum 1 year power equipment operation experience required for non-internal promotions.
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic product scanner proficiency with minimal errors.
  • Strong team player with good verbal/written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills and ability to read documents in English.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Operate battery-operated and/or gas-powered equipment for transporting product to and from inventory storage locations within the facility.
  • Follow all power equipment rules and regulations, including OSHA policies.
  • Use all personal protective safety equipment at all times when operating equipment.
  • Perform all scanner functions necessary for the position, including cycle-counts and inventory put away.
  • Ensure all product is stacked neatly and safely when moved and stored.
  • Maintain accuracy of all inventory movement.
  • Inspect and perform or assist in equipment maintenance as required.
  • Participate in Physical Inventory and Customer Appreciation Warehouse Sale events.
  • Assist in the processing of returned book fairs and picking and packing of customer reorders when necessary.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks as needed.
  • Utilize proper techniques for lifting, packing, and handling heavy objects.
  • Complete Labor Data Collection Cards accurately and timely.
  • Maintain attendance and punctuality as required by assigned work schedule.
  • Maintain a courteous and positive relationship with all co-workers and customers.
  • Comply with drug and alcohol free policy.
