About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the forklift. This includes completing and documenting a forklift inspection form before the start of the shift and when operating a new forklift, as well as turning in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. The operator must locate stock before the start of the run, deliver appropriate stock to machines safely and on time, and remove finished goods from machines. Maintaining neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas is essential, along with completing necessary paperwork accurately and timely. The operator must also maintain accurate location of stock in the storage area by paperwork and computer, maximize equipment utilization, adhere to the daily production schedule, and assist other forklift operators as necessary. Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.
• Required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Nice To Haves

• Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
• Prior work experience as a forklift operator.

Responsibilities

• Operation and care of forklift in a safe manner.
• Complete and document a forklift inspection form before start of shift and when operating a new forklift.
• Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
• Locate stock before the start of the run.
• Deliver appropriate stock to appropriate machines safely and on time.
• Remove finished goods from machines.
• Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
• Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate location of stock in storage area by paperwork and computer.
• Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Adhere to daily production schedule and make recommendations for optimizing the schedule.
• Assist other forklift operators as necessary and act as backup to Shipping Lead Person.
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
