About The Position

The Forklift Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all forklift activities within the warehouse or distribution center to ensure efficient, safe, and timely material handling. This role involves leading a team of forklift operators, managing daily schedules, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations and company policies. The Forklift Operations Lead plays a critical role in optimizing workflow, reducing downtime, and supporting inventory management processes. They act as a liaison between warehouse management and forklift operators to communicate priorities and resolve operational challenges. Ultimately, this position ensures that all forklift operations contribute to the overall productivity and safety goals of the organization.

Requirements

• Valid forklift operator certification and demonstrated experience operating forklifts safely.
• At least 3 years of experience in forklift operation within a warehouse or industrial environment.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a material handling or warehouse setting.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards related to forklift operations.
• Ability to read and interpret inventory and shipping documentation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
• Additional certifications related to safety or equipment operation (e.g., OSHA 10 or 30-hour training).
• Previous experience in a lead or coordinator role managing forklift teams.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Basic mechanical skills for minor forklift troubleshooting and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of forklift operators, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
• Coordinate daily forklift operations to meet production and shipping schedules efficiently.
• Ensure all forklift activities comply with OSHA and company safety standards to maintain a safe working environment.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks on forklifts to prevent equipment failures and downtime.

• Investigate and report any incidents or accidents involving forklift operations promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of forklift usage, maintenance, and operator certifications.
• Assist in developing and implementing operational procedures and safety protocols.
