About The Position

The Forklift/Pallet Jack Mechanic will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of forklifts, pallet jacks, and related material handling equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety in our warehouse operations. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining equipment in compliance with safety standards.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in automotive, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in repairing and maintaining forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar heavy equipment.
  • Certifications: Forklift technician certification (e.g., from manufacturers like Toyota, Jungheinrich, or Raymond) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; familiarity with diagnostic tools and software.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy parts (up to 50 lbs), work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of specific forklift brands and models (e.g., Hyster, Jungheinrich, Raymond).
  • Experience with welding and fabrication for equipment repairs.
  • Familiarity with battery-powered equipment and charging systems.
  • Basic computer skills for using maintenance software and ordering parts.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify malfunctions and ensure proper functionality of equipment components.
  • Parts Management: Maintain an inventory of spare parts, order replacements as needed, and ensure proper documentation of parts usage.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and service schedules using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse staff and supervisors to prioritize repairs and coordinate equipment availability.
  • Training and Support: Provide guidance to operators on proper equipment use and basic troubleshooting to prevent damage.
