About The Position

The Material Handler 4 position at Celestica involves performing complex tasks related to the movement and control of inventory. The role requires considerable judgment and initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations. The incumbent will work under general supervision and may provide functional guidance to others. Responsibilities include receiving, shipping, counting, packaging, and ensuring the accuracy of inventory management. Requirements

  • Four to five years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of warehouse, distribution, inventory control, and shipping/receiving practices.
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records of material movement.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal customers.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • Specific certifications and/or licenses as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides task leadership and technical expertise to material handlers.
  • Performs tasks such as receiving, shipping, counting, packaging, stock rotation, part identification, and shelf life determination.
  • Facilitates the timely and accurate movement and control of inventory.
  • Balances personnel within the area of responsibility to minimize constraints affecting scheduled output.
  • Monitors quantity and quality output and leads the team to meet group goals.
  • Audits transaction accuracy to monitor material handlers' performance.
  • Compiles data and generates reports to illustrate process effectiveness.
  • Identifies, documents, and proposes solutions for processing problems.
  • Receives and processes incoming materials, including handling, inspection, labeling, and delivery.
  • Verifies items received against purchase orders and packing lists.
  • Works with purchasing to resolve issues with deliveries.
  • Inspects deliveries for loss or damage.
  • Prepares finished goods for shipment and maintains necessary supplies.
  • Prepares shipping documentation and labels.
  • Schedules and coordinates pickups for outgoing shipments.
  • Interacts with freight carriers as needed.
  • Maintains detailed files for shipments and researches customer claims.
