As a Forklift Operator you will operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into trucks or storage facilities.  Responsible for processing, identifying, verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing property, equipment, and merchandise against bills of lading, invoice purchase orders, records and customers return authorizations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year experience in operating a forklift.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a forklift License.
  • Knowledge of various material-handling equipment an asset
  • Must have excellent organizational, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of OSHA Regulations
  • Possess a high regard for safety in the workplace
  • The ability to push, pull, lift, up to 50lbs. with or without accommodations

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for receiving items ordered by and directly for specific organizations at the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
  • Verify that CDC is to receive the material by checking the acquisition documents.
  • Examine incoming shipments; reject damaged items and record shortages.
  • Notify the Material Coordinator of any discrepancies or damages found.
  • Report suspicious packages immediately to CDC Security.
  • Mark packages with appropriate delivery designation within CDC with a copy of the acquisition document or packing list attached.
  • Document package movement from receiving point to delivery point.
  • Identify and barcode all accountable property within one (1) day of receipt.
  • Scan item prior to placing on the truck for delivery and again at final destination.
  • Scan bar code excess items into warehouse location and physically inventory all equipment property and supplies at time of arrival.
  • Utilize a forklift or powered hand truck
  • Load/unload materials to/from vehicles and attach them in assigned locations.
  • Move excess property to designated area within two (2) business days of arrival.
  • Separate all excess into good condition, repairable condition and scrap condition as determined.
  • Relocate surplus property to designated area, arrange, and number in sequential lots in accordance to directions.
  • Locate and move materials to pallets or crates for storage or shipment.
  • Pack, weigh, and label material for shipment as directed.
  • Identify safety hazards and correct them
  • Maintain machines, equipment, and electrical components.
  • Inspect Forklift or powered hand truck daily and maintain safety logs
