About The Position
The position of Smokejumper involves performing parachute jumps and engaging in various wildland fire suppression duties. The role requires executing landings on challenging terrains and utilizing a range of hand and power tools for firefighting. Smokejumpers may also take on leadership roles such as Initial Attack Fireboss, Crew Boss, or Sector Boss, and are expected to participate in annual training to maintain their skills. The job may involve travel to remote locations and participation in other resource management activities when not engaged in fire suppression.
