About The Position

The Forestry Technician (Fire Dispatch) position at the Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, involves operating and directing various dispatch telecommunication systems and providing wildfire suppression support as directed. Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
• Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
• Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• This is a drug testing designated position.
• Willing to live/work in remote locations.
• Prior wildland firefighting experience is required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in wildland fire suppression and prescribed fire strategies.
• Knowledge of fire behavior and weather conditions.
• Experience in coordinating aviation dispatch operations.

Responsibilities

• Provides information and consults with cooperators and other entities.
• Coordinates and assists with fire training and orientation.
