About The Position

The North Dakota Forest Service is currently seeking a Forestry Intern for the 2026 field season. The North Dakota Forest Service manages five state forests encompassing 13,945 acres, 4 campgrounds, 42 miles of maintained trails, fishing access to for lakes and canoe access to three major rivers to enhance the public use of these lands. The Forestry Intern will assist and learn about all aspects of natural resource and recreational management of these lands. Applications must be received by December 15, 2025.

Requirements

  • Employee may perform varied duties, work under general supervision and may be required to make independent decisions relevant to performance of work tasks.
  • Employee must be able to work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Ability (or capable of learning) to identify common trees and shrubs of the upper Midwest.
  • Ability (or capable of learning) to identify North Dakota listed noxious weeds

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating lawn equipment, pruning tools, towing trailers, operating utility vehicles preferred.
