About The Position

Weyerhaeuser has an internship opening for Forestry students within our Northern Timberlands operation in Lewisburg, WV. Our internship program is designed to give students a valuable learning experience, including exposure to different areas of operations such as forest measurements, GIS, silviculture, harvest and haul, operational planning, and road development. You will work with an individualized work plan and a personal sponsor. You will also be given ample feedback on your performance while having the opportunity to give feedback on ways to enhance the program. This is a temporary, full-time position with a tentative start date of early May 2026 and ending late August 2026. Students will receive: An individualized work plan and clear expectations for the length of the internship An opportunity for exposure to a broad base of professional forestry experiences Feedback on their performance A Weyerhaeuser sponsor to help them integrate into the business unit as well as to acclimate to the community Competitive compensation An opportunity to provide feedback to help improve their own internship program Potential opportunity to return to the same or different Weyerhaeuser location as an intern in 2027 Assessment for a full-time position upon graduation

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Postgraduate program in Forestry or related field of study at an accredited college or university
  • Must have completed your freshman year by the start of the internship (May 2026)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Capable of meeting the demands of fieldwork, including safely lifting up to 50 lbs, operating ATVs and 4WD vehicles, and working in various weather conditions, from extreme heat to cold
  • Willingness to work in remote areas and perform tasks that may require standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods
