About The Position

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking an intern to assist with various state forest initiatives, focusing on wildfire prevention, sustainable timber practices, and the management of recreational opportunities. Requirements

  • Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program in Forestry, Environmental Resource Management, Environmental Science, or Environmental Studies.
  • Completion of freshman year.
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).
  • Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license not under suspension.

Responsibilities

  • Assist district staff in planning and layout of timber harvesting.
  • Manage recreational opportunities within state forests.
  • Monitor insect and disease impacts on forest health.
  • Promote private forest stewardship practices for sustainable management.
  • Participate in forest fire protection efforts.
