The Forest Product Sales position at Do it Best Corp. is a vital role within the Lumber & Building Materials division, located in Fort Wayne, IN. While advanced experience in forest products is beneficial, it is not a prerequisite for this role. In this role, you will be tasked with forecasting market conditions, advising on purchasing strategies, and negotiating pricing programs. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about developing their product knowledge, particularly with a focus on sustainability, and will be passionate about building relationships with members and vendors. Previous experience in the Forest Products Industry, Commodity Trading, Lumber Trading, Building Materials Sales, Outside Sales, Flooring Sales, or Hardware Sales is highly encouraged. The responsibilities of this position include representing Do it Best and its members professionally, demonstrating strong negotiation and communication skills. You will engage in basic Trader functions such as order generation, confirmations, shipment mechanics, and status reports, all while maintaining a proactive approach. Assisting members in sourcing products and applying a coachable mindset to leverage market analysis for the best value proposition is crucial. Effective daily communication with membership, proactive client acquisition, and dynamic account management are also key components of this role. Additionally, you will handle Trader/Vendor/Member issues, such as conflicts and claims, utilizing strong problem-solving skills. Continuous improvement in knowledge about forest products, business, and industry trends is expected, along with a willingness to learn and adapt. Travel to shows, members, and vendors may be required, showcasing a proactive and coachable attitude. Keeping current and detailed information in the company CRM, utilizing strong PC and Google Suite skills, is also part of the job.
