About The Position

The Forest Officer position is designed to provide on-the-ground leadership for fire suppression crews, serving as an initial attack Incident Commander. This role is crucial for the administration and enforcement of Oregon's fire prevention statutes and rules, ensuring the safety and management of forest lands. The officer will coordinate and perform physical labor necessary for wildfire suppression, including detection, pre-suppression, prevention, and suppression activities.

Requirements

• Four seasons of experience in wildland fire suppression or a bachelor's degree in forestry or a closely related natural resources field and one season of wildland fire suppression experience.
• Must pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the arduous level.
• Obtain Class B Warden certification within the trial service period.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform physical labor necessary to suppress and extinguish wildfires.
• Complete routine building and ground maintenance.
