To learn more about playing for Team Amcor, visit www.amcor.com I LinkedIn I Glassdoor I Facebook I YouTube Job Description PURPOSE • The Foreperson is responsible for the direct supervision of assigned industrial production lines. • Must know blown film basics, troubleshooting, extruder drives, heaters and controls. • The Foreperson knows how the start- up and shutdown production lines. He is responsible for packer compliance with established safety, quality, quantity, housekeeping and disciplinary standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, equivalent, or two years of previous blown film-manufacturing experience.
  • Good mechanical background a plus.
  • Have valid Amcor forklift license.
  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
  • Ability to do functional math; i.e. adding, subtracting, multiplying and division.
  • Ability to use a handheld calculator to figure percentage formulas and out-put yield.
  • Must be able to calculate the density of the blend and percentage of layer thickness with micrometers.
  • Accurately read provided measuring devices.
  • The employee must be able to keep up with moderate speed production machines winders, bag machines, printing presses, extruders, blenders and pumps.
  • Manual dexterity required with exposure to arm, wrist and back fatigue.
  • The employee frequently uses their arms, hands and fingers to handle, grasp, hold, grip and squeeze.
  • The employee routinely bends and occasionally lifts up to 65 pounds over a twelve (12) hour shift, kneels, squats, pulls and drags sheets of plastic, rearranges and organizes products/materials, climbs/descends stairs into/from the tower areas 50 to 75 feet in the air and pushes a broom to clean the production floor.
  • The employee stands approximately 10 hours and frequently walks the production area to locate materials, check supplies, locate pallets and offer assistance where needed.
  • The employees infrequently steps up 1½ feet and pulls themselves into the seat of a forklift.
  • Operation of forklift and lifting equipment are infrequent job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review production orders in a start-up production, run and shut down of equipment.
  • Responsible for all processes, equipment and packers on assigned lines.
  • Must meet production, quality and quantity standards.
  • Assures proper set ups and quality checks are being performed.
  • Organizes work for smooth operations.
  • Assists in training packers on how to do quality checks, gauge, length, width and weight and does follows-up on production to make sure product is being produced to specifications and documents paperwork. MOPA WI-00262 / 0
  • Train the machine operators on how to make boxes and label them, lace the line, and thread up the post gussets and bag machines.
  • Make necessary adjustments and settings up equipment so product is in compliance to the work order.
  • Can operate all aspects involved in a start-up, process control blending system, recalibration and control panel, printing press and bag separator and can take a line down properly.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot the majority of problems on extrusion, bag machines and winders.
  • Advises machine operators of order changes to ensure proper materials are ready for the new order.
  • Teaches machine operators the entire process of the blown film production from the beginning of the process to the finished goods.
  • Must know resin system and the various resins used for their application and in what capacity.
  • Keep the hoppers full of resin and gay lords of resin ready for use.
  • Notifies Supervisor of equipment problems and advises of quality problems.
  • Run the lines efficiently so scrap is at a minimum. No scrap is to be left behind for oncoming shift.
  • Assists other packers and Line Foreman when their lines go down or there is a manufacturing problem.
  • Moves equipment in and out of manufacturing area for production changeovers with a pallet jack or forklift.
  • Replaces broken or worn out hand equipment and makes sure the packers have all of their PPE available and in use.
  • Assists Utility person move and wrap pallets.
  • Must be willing to work twelve-hour shifts and overtime when needed. Occasionally stay passed 12hr shift to insure all production lines are running during shift change.
  • Responsible for adhering to and executing the applicable Environmental Health & Safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for all employees according to Berry, local, state, and federal requirement-regulations.
  • Must be able to maintain housekeeping on production lines.
  • Reads work orders and check resins and concentrates for the lines.
  • Moves pallets and skids of resins/concentrates the designated areas using a pallet jack or forklift.
  • Verbally communicates with co-workers on production needs and process.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures in compliance with Amcor’s guidelines.
  • Visually inspects production area for tripping hazards, equipment safeguards, employee’s safety, adherence to policies and maintains a clean work environment.
